Solar Thermal Water Heating

Beginning at the end of 2011, MS Mango Farm completed the integration of solar thermal heated fruit wash processing. By harnessing the high UV exposure of the southern region of Puerto Rico, MS Mango is able to heat all of its water required for the sterilization and processing of mangos before refrigeration and shipment. This saves an estimated 80% of gas energy needed to heat process water during processing.

Photovoltatic Electricity

Utilizing the large, flat surface area of the packing house roof, MS Mango has installed an advanced photovoltaic array to further take advantage of the UV exposure of the region. Producing an estimated 150 kilowatt (Kw) of electricity per year, MS Mango’s energy needs are 100% solar powered.
